Sunset Bash 2025 Ignites Emerging Country Talent with Prestigious ‘Big Break’ Competition

Rohan JoshiRohan JoshiAugust 18, 20254 Minutes read

Penrith, NSW – The vibrant heart of Australian country music is set to beat stronger with the announcement of the 2025 Big Break Competition, launched by the much-anticipated Sunset Bash festival. This initiative offers an unparalleled opportunity for an emerging artist from New South Wales to catapult their career onto a national stage, culminating in a prime performance slot at the country music extravaganza on Saturday, September 20, 2025.

Returning for its third year, Sunset Bash has firmly established itself as a cornerstone event in the Australian music festival calendar, bringing together top-tier acts and a passionate audience at The Backyard Panthers Penrith.

A Springboard for New Voices

The Big Break Competition is specifically designed to unearth and champion undiscovered and unsigned musical talent within NSW. The grand prize goes far beyond a mere performance; it’s a comprehensive package meticulously crafted to provide significant industry exposure and practical support for an aspiring artist.

The chosen winner will earn a paid 20-minute set on the main stage at Sunset Bash 2025, backed by a professional house band, offering an invaluable live performance experience alongside established stars. This direct engagement with a large festival audience provides an immediate and impactful platform for their music.

Beyond the live performance, the promotional package from Countrytown, one of Australia’s leading country music media outlets, is a cornerstone of the prize. This includes a dedicated article or interview feature, coupled with extensive social media promotion across both Countrytown and Sunset Bash’s channels, ensuring the winner gains substantial visibility within the industry and among fans.

To further equip the artist for their burgeoning career, Wilde Gypsy is providing an outfit package valued at $350. This includes a custom rancher or cowboy hat from their Wilde Gypsy or Wilde Country range, a hoodie, a T-shirt, a trucker cap, and accessories, ensuring the artist looks the part on and off stage. Wilde Gypsy is known for its western and boho-inspired accessories, making them a fitting partner for this country music event.

Building on Past Success: The Jamie Preston Effect

The impact of the Big Break Competition is already evident through the success story of Jamie Preston, the 2024 winner from South Western Sydney. Preston attests to the transformative power of the competition, stating that winning “changed everything” for him. He highlighted the festival experience as “next-level,” emphasizing the significant boost in confidence and the invaluable opportunity to share his music with a large and appreciative crowd.

His journey serves as a powerful testament to Sunset Bash’s commitment to nurturing grassroots talent and providing tangible pathways for emerging artists to break into the competitive music scene. The competition aims to replicate and expand upon this success for the 2025 recipient.

The Sunset Bash 2025 Experience

Set to light up The Backyard at Panthers Penrith, Sunset Bash 2025 promises an immersive festival experience for all attendees. The venue, known for its premium outdoor setting, offers ample seating options, including picnic benches and grassy areas, allowing patrons to relax or dance the day away. A large bar seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor spaces, and the venue boasts comprehensive accessibility features.

This year’s festival features an impressive lineup, headlined by the celebrated Brad Cox, who is slated to release his fourth studio album, Endemic Intelligence In Multiple Dimensions, shortly after the festival on September 26, 2025. He will be joined by a stellar roster of Australian country stars, including six-time Golden Guitar winner Amber Lawrence, the rising Jeremy Turner, Tori Darke, Linc Phelps, Abbie Ferris, and Felicity Kircher, the 2025 Toyota Star Maker Winner. The event will be hosted by MCs Ryan Gallagher and country-pop star Missy Lancaster, ensuring a lively and engaging atmosphere throughout the day.

Beyond the main stage performances, Sunset Bash will offer a diverse array of attractions. Attendees can participate in line dancing sessions led by Kristen, indulge in a variety of food options from popular vendors like Brisket Boys BBQ and other food trucks, and explore fashion stalls featuring country-inspired apparel and unique finds. The good vibes are set to continue late into the night with an after-party featuring a country music DJ, ensuring the festival energy remains high even after the live sets conclude.

How to Enter the Big Break

Submissions for the 2025 Big Break Competition are currently open, providing a crucial window for aspiring artists to seize this opportunity. Eligibility is focused on emerging singers and singer/songwriters from NSW who are currently undiscovered and unsigned to a major record label. Artists are encouraged to submit multiple entries to maximize their chances.

Interested artists must submit their details through the official competition form, providing links to their website, social media channels, or other digital portfolios, along with a short biography. The submission period commenced on Sunday, July 27, 2025, and will close on Thursday, August 28, 2025. The winner will be contacted directly on Sunday, August 31, 2025, and the official announcement will follow on Sunset Bash’s social media platforms.

This is a golden opportunity for NSW’s burgeoning country music talent to gain the recognition and support needed to elevate their careers. The Big Break Competition, part of the broader Sunset Bash festival, continues to be a vital platform for the future of Australian country music.
