Wyldest Ignites ‘Old Flame’ with New Song, Unveiling Album “The Universe Is Loading” This November

T-BoneT-BoneSeptember 9, 20254 Minutes read

London-based artist Wyldest, the creative project of Zoë Mead, has officially released her evocative new song, “Old Flame.” This latest offering, the **Wyldest Old Flame** single, serves as a powerful preview of her forthcoming album, “The Universe Is Loading,” slated for release on November 14, 2025. The **Wyldest new song** unveiled by Wyldest delves into profound themes of destruction, growth, and resilience, drawing inspiration from a poignant visit to California’s Sequoia National Park in the aftermath of devastating wildfires. The song officially dropped on September 8, 2025, marking a significant moment in the lead-up to her highly anticipated album, a true **new music release**.

The Genesis of the Wyldest Old Flame: Nature’s Cycles and Human Trauma

“Old Flame” was conceived following a series of US shows, during which Wyldest had the opportunity to visit Sequoia National Park. Witnessing the impact of wildfires on the ancient landscape, particularly the famed giant sequoias, sparked a deep reflection in Zoë Mead. She learned about the unique ecology of the region, where forest fires are not just destructive but also a natural catalyst for the trees’ ability to thrive and regenerate. This observation led Mead to draw parallels between the natural cycles of destruction and renewal in the environment and the process of human emotional and psychological healing, a core theme of the **Wyldest Old Flame**.

“The forest fires are natural to their ability to thrive in the environment,” Mead explained. “This got me thinking about trauma in the human world and how it could have the same natural tendency to occur and help with personal growth.” She elaborated on this connection, suggesting that navigating personal trauma is akin to shedding an old version of oneself, leaving behind a less progressive past to foster development and growth, much like the resilient sequoia trees. The **Wyldest Old Flame** poetically re-frames the experience of undergoing trauma, suggesting that in hindsight, it can be an embraced and necessary part of personal evolution.

A Sonic and Visual Journey for the Wyldest Old Flame

Musically, “Old Flame” mirrors its thematic depth. The song begins with a delicate flicker of guitar, gradually building into a rich, incandescent **indie rock** soundscape. Mead’s vocals cut through the instrumentation, weaving imagery of scorched forests and the dissolution of relationships, all encapsulated within the **Wyldest Old Flame**.

The accompanying **Old Flame music video**, directed by Zoë Mead herself, adds another layer to the song’s narrative. Filmed on Ireland’s west coast in Connemara, the visual narrative follows Mead as she chases and eventually releases a spectral vision of her past self against stark, surreal coastal backdrops. This visual storytelling complements the lyrical exploration of letting go and moving forward. The production of the track was handled by Luciano Rossi, with mixing by Rossi and mastering by Alex Wharton at Abbey Road Studios, contributing to the powerful **Wyldest Old Flame**.

“The Universe Is Loading”: An Album of Contradictions and Transformations

“Old Flame” is the third single to be released from Wyldest’s upcoming album, “The Universe Is Loading,” following previous tracks such as “After The Ending” and “All It Would Take Is A Phone Call.” These earlier singles also explore themes of estrangement, illness, and resilience, sketching out the album’s rich thematic tapestry, setting the stage for the **Wyldest Old Flame**.

The album, comprising eleven tracks, is described as an exploration of an apocalyptic dreamworld, blending influences from gothic horror, surrealism, and science fiction with deeply human songs rooted in love, grief, and transformation. Mead has noted that the album grapples with personal and political systems that attempt to contain individuals, inspired in part by surrealist films like “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “Big Fish,” and “The Matrix,” as well as the natural world’s capacity for endurance. Mead’s own experiences, including a diagnosis of endometriosis, have also informed the album’s exploration of fragility and strength, adding depth to the **Wyldest Old Flame**’s context.

Upcoming Tour and Artist Trajectory for Wyldest

Wyldest, real name **Zoë Mead**, has been a notable presence in the **indie music** scene, with previous albums including “Dream Chaos” (2019), “Monthly Friend” (2021), and “Feed the Flowers Nightmares” (2022). Her **new music** continues to garner acclaim from various music publications, building anticipation for the **Wyldest Old Flame**.

In support of “The Universe Is Loading,” Wyldest is set to embark on a **UK tour** in February and March 2026, with dates announced in Brighton, London, Manchester, and other cities. This tour will undoubtedly feature the powerful **Wyldest Old Flame**.

With the release of “Old Flame,” Wyldest solidifies her reputation for crafting emotionally resonant music that thoughtfully examines complex themes through poetic lyrics and captivating soundscapes. The anticipation for “The Universe Is Loading” is palpable, promising a deeply immersive and thought-provoking listening experience, with the **Wyldest Old Flame** serving as a powerful introduction.
