Saving Country Music has officially designated June 20, 2025, as a country music holiday, citing a substantial volume of anticipated album releases and significant industry events slated for the period. This declaration highlights a burgeoning period for country music enthusiasts, promising a wealth of new material and live performances.

Anticipated Album Releases and Notable Projects

The spotlight on June 20, 2025, is amplified by a series of high-profile album drops. Micky and the Motorcars are set to unveil their self-titled album on June 19th, offering fans new tracks from the beloved group. Contemporaneously, James McMurtry’s “The Black Dog and the Wandering Boy” is slated for release, promising the artist’s signature lyrical depth. Fans will also be treated to Charley Pride’s posthumous “Cover Story,” an album featuring previously unreleased tracks alongside fresh renditions of classics by country music legends Johnny Cash and Ray Price.

Adding to the flurry of new music, Lukas Nelson has a new album prepared for release, further cementing the day as a significant date for country music consumption. Nelson’s new single, “American Romance,” is also among the new country songs released around this pivotal date, alongside Dylan Marlowe’s “Sorryville,” Max McNown’s “This Side of Heaven,” and Megan Moroney’s “6 Months Later.” The iconic Waylon Jennings will also be heard in new light with the release of his song “Songbird.”

Earlier in the year, Blake Shelton’s album “For Recreational Use Only” arrived on May 9, 2025, with his single “Texas” climbing to #3 on the Top 40 Country Songs list for May 2025. Morgan Wallen’s highly anticipated album “I’m The Problem” was released on May 16, 2025, and his collaboration with Post Malone, “I Ain’t Coming Back,” has been charting prominently. Looking ahead, rising artist Dylan Gossett announced his debut album “Westward” for July 18, 2025.

Major Live Events and Festival Season

The country music calendar for 2025 is packed with major live events. The 106.5 WYRK Toyota Taste of Country concert, now in its 24th year, is scheduled for June 20, 2025, at Sahlen Field. Nashville will host the 52nd CMA Fest from June 5-8, 2025. The festival will showcase performances by some of country music’s biggest stars, including Lainey Wilson, Keith Urban, Thomas Rhett, and Kelsea Ballerini. Beyond the performances, CMA Fest will also spotlight the CMA Foundation’s crucial music education initiatives.

The 60th Academy of Country Music Awards are set for May 22, 2025, with the legendary Reba McEntire returning to host. The ceremony is expected to feature performances by a range of artists, including rising talent Zach Top.

Further adding to the festival circuit, the Stagecoach Festival took place from April 25-27, 2025, featuring headliners Zach Bryan, Choya Partridge, Jelly Roll, and Luke Combs. On March 19, 2025, the Grand Ole Opry marked its 100th birthday with a special celebratory concert.
