Country Music Scene Buzzes: New Releases from Lambert, Stapleton, Wilson, and More This Week

Kenji TanakaKenji TanakaAugust 25, 20253 Minutes read

The country music landscape is alive with activity as August 25, 2025, marks a significant day for new music releases and exciting announcements. From major collaborations and expanded fan-favorite albums to highly anticipated new tracks and upcoming projects, the week offers a diverse and robust slate for country music enthusiasts.

Star Power Unleashed: Lambert and Stapleton Drop “A Song to Sing” Video

Kicking off a wave of high-profile releases, country music titans Miranda Lambert and Chris Stapleton have unveiled a captivating, ’70s-inspired music video for their celebrated duet, “A Song to Sing.” Premiering on August 22nd, the video, directed by Running Bear, transports viewers to a roller rink, channeling the nostalgic charm of classic country duets. Lambert and Stapleton even donned jewelry borrowed from the estates of Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, adding an authentic touch to the retro aesthetic. The visual also features a cameo from Stapleton’s wife, Morgane. “A Song to Sing,” co-written by Lambert, Stapleton, Jesse Frasure, and Jenee Fleenor, and produced by Dave Cobb, has already seen considerable success since its July radio release, marking a significant milestone as their first recorded duet together. The track achieved the biggest streaming debut of Lambert’s career and topped the Country Digital Song Sales chart, underscoring the immense appeal of this collaboration.

Lainey Wilson Expands “Whirlwind” with Deluxe Edition

Fans of Lainey Wilson are treated to new music as the acclaimed artist released a deluxe version of her award-winning album, “Whirlwind,” on August 22nd. This expanded edition adds five new tracks to the original fourteen, offering deeper dives into Wilson’s distinctive sound and storytelling. The new additions include fan-favorite “Bell Bottoms Up,” “King Ranch, King George, King James,” “Yesterday, All Day, Every Day,” “Peace, Love, and Cowboys,” and her current rising single, “Somewhere Over Laredo.” The deluxe release comes as Wilson continues her sold-out “Whirlwind World Tour,” further cementing her status as a dominant force in contemporary country music. “Somewhere Over Laredo” itself has garnered significant attention, becoming the most-added song at country radio upon impact and achieving Wilson’s biggest first-day streaming numbers to date.

Billy Currington Teases New Album “King Of The World”

Adding to the week’s excitement, multi-Platinum country star Billy Currington announced his seventh studio album, “King Of The World,” slated for release on October 24th. The announcement, made on August 22nd, was accompanied by the release of his new single, “One Thing I Ain’t Been.” Produced by Carson Chamberlain, the 10-track project promises to continue Currington’s legacy of crafting coastal-infused, heartfelt country anthems. Currington has co-written several songs on the album with notable industry songwriters, including Dean Dillon and Scotty Emerick. The title track, “King Of The World,” was previously released, giving fans an early taste of the album’s sound, which embraces his signature coastal roots with standout songs like “Run For My Whiskey” and “Bourbon Sunset.”

Emerging Voices Make Their Mark

Newer artists are also making significant contributions to the week’s new music landscape. Red Street Records newcomer Kaleb Sanders released his latest track, “Left Me At The Bar,” on August 21st. Described as an up-tempo, punchy melody, it’s poised to be an end-of-summer anthem for country music listeners. Meanwhile, Josiah Queen, building on the success of his debut album “The Prodigal,” has released his sophomore album, “Mt. Zion.” This new project delves further into his signature folk-pop worship style, featuring collaborations with prominent artists such as Brandon Lake, Benjamin William Hastings, and Gable Price. “Mt. Zion” is noted for its honest delivery, acoustic grounding, and introspective themes, continuing Queen’s ascent as a compelling new voice in faith-based music.

A Busy Week for Country Music Releases

The influx of new music doesn’t stop there. August 25th also sees the release of Tim McGraw’s 17th studio album, “Standing Room Only,” featuring Lori McKenna on one track. Morgan Wade releases her second full-length album, “Psychopath,” while Zach Bryan drops his self-titled fourth studio album, featuring guest appearances from Kacey Musgraves, The Lumineers, and The War and Treaty. Old Crow Medicine Show also contribute to the week’s offerings with their eighth studio album, “Jubilee,” which includes features from Mavis Staples and Sierra Ferrell. Additionally, Russell Dickerson released his fourth album, “Famous Back Home,” on August 22nd, offering a contrast between big dreams and family fulfillment.

This period is proving to be exceptionally fruitful for country music fans, with established superstars and rising artists alike delivering a rich tapestry of new songs and albums. The diverse range of releases, from evocative music videos to expanded album projects and fresh singles, highlights the dynamic and ever-evolving nature of the country music genre.
