Country Music Sector Sees Major Executive Shifts, Artist Signings, and Chart Success in Early June 2025

Nashville, TN – The country music landscape is buzzing with significant executive appointments, strategic artist signings, and notable chart achievements as detailed in The MusicRow Weekly’s June 6, 2025 edition. The industry is navigating a period of considerable executive movement and welcoming fresh talent across labels, publishing, and touring.

Executive Promotions and New Roles Reshape Industry Powerhouses

In a significant move for one of the industry’s most prominent corporations, Rob Femia has ascended to the position of Chief Operating Officer at Music Corporation of America (MCA). In this expanded capacity, Femia will now oversee a portfolio of influential labels, including EMI Records Nashville, Lucille Records, Mercury Nashville, and MCA Nashville. This strategic promotion places him at the helm of several key entities within the country music sphere.

Further strengthening the promotional arm of the industry, Lauren “LT” Thomas has joined Big Loud Records as Senior Vice President, Radio Promotion. Thomas’s extensive experience is expected to bolster Big Loud’s engagement with country radio.

Looking ahead to the summer touring season, Leslie Cohea is set to make a substantial impact as she transitions into a role as Partner and Music Touring Executive at WME, effective July 14. Her move signals continued investment and focus on live music representation.

New Talent and Publishing Deals Drive Momentum

The week has also been marked by a series of significant artist signings, indicating a robust pipeline of emerging talent. Hudson Westbrook has inked a deal with River House Artists in partnership with Warner Music Nashville, signaling a promising new chapter for the artist. Cole Goodwin has also found a home at Big Machine Records, a move that is anticipated to generate considerable interest.

In the realm of publishing, Presley Barker has signed with Universal Music Publishing Nashville, a testament to the growing importance of music publishing in nurturing artist careers. Universal Music Publishing Group also welcomes Micah Wilshire, further expanding its roster of songwriting talent.

Sony Music Publishing has also been active, announcing new signings with both Joe Reeves and Frank Ray, reinforcing its commitment to developing and supporting songwriters.

Riser House Entertainment and Spirit Music Group Expand Operations

Independent powerhouse Riser House Entertainment has significantly expanded its internal team, adding Alex Heimerman as VP, Streaming & Strategic Partnerships, Hayley Irvine as Product Manager, and Eliza Charette as Project and Label Relations Coordinator. These new hires reflect Riser House’s strategic growth and deepening focus on diverse aspects of artist development and market reach.

Spirit Music Group has launched a new venture, LASA Music, with notable figures DeAndre Hopkins and Erik Belz. The newly formed entity has already secured its first signing, Lecade, marking a significant debut for the new label imprint.

Chart Success and Industry Recognition Highlight Artist Achievements

Morgan Wallen continues his reign on the charts, with his track “Just In Case” holding the No. 1 position on the MusicRow CountryBreakout Radio Chart. This achievement underscores Wallen’s sustained impact on country radio.

Notable Industry Moves and Renewals

In a move that reverberates through the industry, Taylor Swift has successfully repurchased her master recording catalog from Shamrock Capital. This significant transaction marks a major milestone in the artist’s career and ownership of her work.

Songwriter Lori McKenna has renewed her established deals with Creative Nation, signaling a continued partnership with the management and publishing company.

New Ventures and Emerging Talent Recognition

Jayson Entertainment Group has established a new agency division, appointing Matt Malcolm to lead this burgeoning sector of their business.

Leadership Music has also unveiled its Class of 2026, comprising 46 promising individuals poised to shape the future of the music industry. This announcement highlights the ongoing commitment to cultivating leadership within the country music community.

Cinematic Debuts and Artist Crossover

Beyond the executive and signing news, Kane Brown is set to make his mark on the film industry with an appearance in the upcoming movie ‘The Token Groomsman.’ This foray into cinema represents an exciting crossover for a prominent country artist.

Overall, the early June period in country music is characterized by dynamic executive shifts, strategic artist acquisitions across major and independent entities, and continued chart dominance by established stars, alongside promising new signings and significant career milestones for artists and industry professionals alike.
