The Grand Ole Opry and Virgin Music Group are joining forces to commemorate a century of country music’s most storied stage with the upcoming release of “Opry 100: Country’s Greatest Songs.” This landmark album, slated for release on November 7, will offer fans an auditory journey through the Opry’s rich history, featuring 20 unreleased live recordings captured directly from the iconic venue.

A Centennial Celebration Through Song

The album’s release comes just ahead of the Grand Ole Opry’s official 100th anniversary on November 28, positioning it as a pivotal part of the year-long centennial celebration. “Opry 100: Country’s Greatest Songs” promises to be a definitive collection, showcasing a diverse array of performances that have defined country music. The project represents a significant collaboration, blending the Opry’s legendary legacy with the modern reach of Virgin Music Group.

Jacqueline Saturn, President of North America and EVP, Global Artist Relations for Virgin Music Group, expressed considerable enthusiasm for the partnership. “This is a career milestone for us,” Saturn stated, highlighting the prestige and historical importance of the Grand Ole Opry. The collaboration is set to bring some of country music’s most beloved anthems, as performed live on the Opry stage, to a new generation of listeners.

First Single and Featured Performances

Fans will get their first taste of the collection with the release of the lead single, Ashley McBryde’s rendition of “Your Cheatin’ Heart,” scheduled for July 30. This powerful track is expected to set the tone for the album’s blend of classic hits and contemporary interpretations.

The full tracklist boasts an impressive roster of country music legends and contemporary stars, with each performance offering a unique glimpse into the Opry’s storied past. Among the featured recordings are The Charlie Daniels Band performing their unforgettable hit, “Devil Went Down to Georgia.” The collection will also include Johnny Cash’s seminal track “Ring of Fire” and Darius Rucker’s heartfelt delivery of “Kiss An Angel Good Mornin’.”

Further cementing the album’s status as a must-have for country music aficionados, “Opry 100: Country’s Greatest Songs” will feature Randy Travis’s enduring classic “Forever and Ever, Amen” and Loretta Lynn’s iconic “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” The album also shines a spotlight on Don Schlitz’s songwriting prowess with a live version of “The Gambler,” featuring a special appearance by Vince Gill. Luke Combs’ rendition of the beloved “Tennessee Whiskey” and Kelsea Ballerini’s take on “I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool” are also slated for inclusion, demonstrating the breadth of talent that has graced the Opry stage.

Honoring Country Music’s Pillars

The collection extends its tribute to the genre’s foundational artists with George Jones and Alan Jackson’s powerful “He Stopped Loving Her Today (Full Circle Mix)” and a poignant performance of “Go Rest High on That Mountain” by Vince Gill, featuring Patty Loveless. These selections underscore the deep catalog of hits and the enduring impact of these artists on country music history.

A Legacy Preserved

“Opry 100: Country’s Greatest Songs” represents more than just an album; it’s a historical document, a celebration of artistry, and a testament to the Grand Ole Opry’s unwavering influence on American culture. Through these unreleased live recordings, the Opry and Virgin Music Group are offering a curated experience of the songs and the voices that have shaped country music for a century. The November 7 release date ensures that this collection will be a centerpiece of the centennial festivities, providing fans with a direct connection to the heart and soul of the Grand Ole Opry.
