Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins Expecting Fifth Child: Country Music Couple Announces Joyful News

Shanice WilliamsShanice WilliamsAugust 27, 20253 Minutes read

Country music superstar Thomas Rhett and his wife, Lauren Akins, are expanding their already bustling family once more. The beloved couple announced on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, that they are expecting their fifth child, sharing the heartwarming news with fans through a creative social media video. This announcement marks another significant chapter in their journey as parents, adding to their vibrant household.

A Musical Announcement for a Growing Family

The couple chose an intimate and musical way to share their pregnancy news, updating one of Thomas Rhett’s most popular songs, “Life Changes.” In a video posted to Instagram, Thomas Rhett, a multi-platinum country artist, is seen strumming his guitar and singing modified lyrics. The playful rendition highlights the reality of their growing family, with Rhett singing, “Well, I was wrapping my head around being a dad. Big wrench got thrown in the plans that we thought we had. Now Lauren’s showing — got one on the way. That’s… five under 10.” His wife, Lauren, joins him in the clip, holding up ultrasound photos to confirm the exciting development. In the caption, Rhett shared the family’s elation: “Here we go again! We’ve got some really excited big sisters in our house. God is so good.”

Meet the Rhett Daughters

Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins are already parents to four beautiful daughters. Their eldest is Willa Gray, who was adopted from Uganda in November 2015. She is currently nine years old. Following Willa Gray’s arrival, the couple welcomed their second daughter, Ada James, born in August 2017, now eight years old. Their third daughter, Lennon Love, was born in February 2020, making her five years old. Most recently, their fourth daughter, Lillie Carolina, joined the family in November 2021, and is currently three years old. The phrase “five under 10” perfectly encapsulates the dynamic, energetic home they are preparing for, with all their children still in single digits.

From Childhood Sweethearts to Country Music Royalty

The love story between Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins is one that began in childhood. They first met in elementary school and later reconnected, dating through high school and eventually marrying in October 2012. Their enduring relationship has not only been a personal anchor but also a profound source of inspiration for Thomas Rhett’s successful music career. Many of his chart-topping hits, including “Die a Happy Man,” are penned about his deep affection and admiration for Lauren. As a prominent figure in the country music landscape, Thomas Rhett consistently credits his family life for grounding him and fueling his creative output. His father, Rhett Akins, also a successful country singer and songwriter, influenced his musical path, yet Thomas Rhett has often spoken about his commitment to prioritizing family balance differently.

Lauren Akins: A Pillar of Family and Philanthropy

Beyond her role as a devoted mother and wife, Lauren Akins is a recognized author, philanthropist, and former nurse. She chronicled her personal journey, including her experiences in Uganda and the challenges and joys of building a family with a music artist, in her New York Times best-selling memoir, “Live in Love: Growing Together Through Life’s Changes.” Akins is also deeply involved in humanitarian work, particularly with organizations focused on helping children in need. Her philanthropic efforts often align with their family values, creating a positive impact alongside their public lives.

Navigating Fame and Family

Balancing a high-profile music career with raising a young family is a demanding endeavor, and the Rhetts have been candid about the challenges they’ve navigated. From the complexities of international adoption to the pressures of constant touring and public life, they have emphasized the importance of their faith, communication, and mutual support. In past interviews, Thomas Rhett has spoken about his efforts to maintain a work-life balance, ensuring he remains present for his children. Lauren has also shared insights into maintaining their personal connection amidst the whirlwind of fame, often using her platform to advocate for authenticity.

Looking Forward

With the arrival of their fifth child, the Rhett family is set to embrace another season of joy and change. The news has been met with widespread congratulations from fans and fellow artists alike, celebrating the couple’s growing family and their inspiring personal news. As they prepare for their new arrival, the focus remains on the love and dedication that have characterized their family life, making this latest announcement a truly happy occasion for the country music community and beyond.
