Country Music Stars Unite for Texas Flood Relief: “United We Stand” Concert Benefits Kerr County

Ananya DesaiAnanya DesaiAugust 31, 20253 Minutes read

In the wake of devastating floods that swept through Texas, the country music community has once again demonstrated its unwavering support for affected regions. A significant benefit concert, “United We Stand: Together for Texas,” was held at Hoot’s Hall in Burleson, bringing together a constellation of country music talent to raise crucial funds and awareness for disaster relief efforts in Kerr County.

Context of Devastation: Texas Floods of July 2025

The “United We Stand” concert was organized in response to the catastrophic flooding that inundated parts of Texas in July 2025. These severe weather events, fueled by heavy rainfall, caused widespread destruction, leading to flash flood emergencies and significant damage to infrastructure, homes, and livelihoods across the state. Kerr County, in particular, experienced severe flooding, with reports indicating multiple missing children and extensive damage requiring substantial aid and recovery efforts.

During these challenging times, organizations like the United Cajun Navy played a critical role. Commander Kevin LaFond, speaking about the event’s purpose, highlighted the goal of showing robust support for the people of Kerr County. The United Cajun Navy, a grassroots nonprofit known for its rapid response to natural disasters, was actively involved in search and rescue operations and providing humanitarian aid in flood-affected areas of Texas during this period. Their presence underscored the critical need for organized relief in the aftermath of the storms.

A Night of Solidarity and Support

The “United We Stand: Together for Texas” concert served as a powerful display of solidarity. Featuring approximately 28 performers, the event showcased the generosity and commitment of country music artists. Among the notable artists who lent their talents to the cause were Bryan White, Mark Collie, and Tony Jackson, alongside many others. The concert aimed not only to raise much-needed funds but also to uplift the spirits of those impacted by the disaster, reinforcing the message of community resilience.

Ticket sales contributed directly to the relief efforts, with general admission priced at $50 and VIP tickets available for $125. The collective effort underscored the significant role the country music scene plays in mobilizing support during times of crisis.

Benefiting ‘Hope on the Inside’

Proceeds from the “United We Stand: Together for Texas” benefit concert were designated for the charity “Hope on the Inside.” This organization was founded by country music superstar Kix Brooks, a member of the legendary duo Brooks and Dunn, and Briana Calhoun. “Hope on the Inside” focuses on empowering incarcerated individuals by providing them with the tools and skills necessary to transition from merely existing to living with purpose. While the charity’s primary mission centers on rehabilitation and personal growth within the correctional system, its involvement in this disaster relief effort highlights a broader commitment to community welfare and support, potentially channeling disaster-specific aid through its established framework or Kix Brooks’ personal philanthropic endeavors.

Briana Calhoun, a co-founder, often shares her own powerful story of overcoming addiction and incarceration, emphasizing the potential for transformation and redemption. Kix Brooks, with his extensive experience in the music industry, lends his voice and influence to amplify the organization’s mission, advocating for positive change and offering support to those seeking a second chance.

The Country Music Community’s Generosity

The “United We Stand” concert is part of a larger wave of support from the country music industry for Texas disaster recovery. In the wake of the July 2025 floods, several other high-profile events were organized. Artists like Robert Earl Keen hosted “Applause for the Cause,” which raised millions for flood recovery, featuring performances by other prominent country artists such as Miranda Lambert and Jamey Johnson. George Strait also rallied fellow musicians for the “Strait to the Heart” benefit dinner and concert, directing funds to the Vaqueros del Mar Texas Flood Relief Fund. These events, along with livestreams and dedicated fundraising initiatives, demonstrate a deep-seated commitment from country music artists and their fans to aid Texans during times of need.

The collective impact of these events, including “United We Stand: Together for Texas,” provides essential resources and a much-needed beacon of hope for communities striving to rebuild and recover from natural disasters. The dedication of each artist, volunteer, and attendee was instrumental in channeling support and reaffirming the strength found in unity, especially when facing adversity.
